Control

Controllers for graphic and other software.

Changing more than one parameter at a time is not possible using a mouse and a keyboard.

Control is a design study of how a controller for software such as Photoshop or InDesign could look like.

WORK FLOW

Working as a designer on a computer is unfortunately quite an inexpressive way compared to the analog and manual way. One of the main reasons is the fact that you can change only one parameter at a time. Due to the input devices like a mouse we can only click on one spot at the screen activating or manipulating just one parameter.

Inspired by my experiences as a DJ and a VJ I designed a series of input devices for designers that would allow them to work more intuitively and experimentally. The simplest things such as changing in Photoshop the value of brightness and contrast at the same time can be such an effective and fun way to work.

The series consists of 6 devices for applications like Photoshop, Camera Raw, InDesign, Illustrator and Sketchbook. However, due to the fact that there are no labels next to the buttons they can be used with every thinkable and compatible application.

To see the assignment of the buttons, an on-screen helper tool can be faded in at anytime.
